Halls Not Daunted By Jungle Deuce Clash

FLYING Amy winner Jungle Deuce is a daunting opponent for most but not for successful husband and wife training team Graham and Leanne Hall.

JUNGLE Deuce, coming off a Group 2 Flying Amy Classic win in a very fast 29.54 last week, is a daunting opponent for most but not for husband and wife team Graham and Leanne Hall.

The Halls are happy to take on Jungle Deuce in Thursday night's Origin Match Race over 520m despite their immensely talented charge Extra Malt coming off three unplaced runs.

Extra Malt will exit box one while Jungle Deuce will leave trap three.

“Our bitch has had no luck at all in those runs,” Graham said of the winner of 12 races which has a career best of 29.60 at Albion Park.

“Yes, we were looking to get selected in the Match Race and yes, we are happy to take him (Jungle Deuce) on.”

Hall said Extra Malt has been a noted slow beginner to date which has always allowed her to work her way through a field.

“But in her past three runs she has jumped much better and that has put her into a position to find trouble early and that's exactly what has happened,” he said.

“The beauty of racing a high class dog like Jungle Deuce is that standard of dogs does not do anything stupid.

“We believe this will give us a great chance of running him down.

“If our bitch runs home in 12.45, her best run home time to date, then even a dog as good as Jungle Deuce will be going good to hold her out.”

Jungle Deuce led virtually throughout when he won last week's Flying Amy Classic, utilising his rails box draw to perfection beating Do It and Orchestrate.

He ran a final section of 12.50 after a 5.56 first split.

“It will be very interesting to see what our girl does in the two-dog match,” added Hall.

“I'd like her to get on the rails as early as she can and see what she can do.”
