My Redeemer Pups Hit The Ground Running

VICTORIAN David Geall didn't need to know his great galloper My Redeemer had sired his first winner and in very fast time last week.

He didn't need to know the ravings of pre-trainers with his first pups about to hit the racetrack either.

He knew the signs were better than good by the number of phone calls he was receiving.

Breeders had heard the reports and were “pestering” Geall for semen from the multiple Group 1 winning son of Fernando Bale and Where's Demonica.

By the Sunday morning after the dog's first winner, Geall had sold five straws just after breakfast.

And, Geall knew from the couple of pups he had in his own kennel, sons and daughters of My Redeemer, which were also churning up the tracks in preparation for racing.

My Redeemer's first winner, Lakeview Max, out of the Cosmic Rumble-She's Bossy bitch Lakeview Grace, landed a Warragul maiden in 22.46 – a best of the day performance.

He backed up the following week to win again as the raging hot $1.10 favourite.

“And what a run it was,” said Geall.

“He missed the start hopelessly, but still stormed to the front and won running away. Very impressive.”

My Redeemer, a half-brother to Geall's other champion Up Hill Jill, won the Group 1 Melbourne Cup and Harrison-Dawson.

He was also a Group 1 finalist in the Australian Cup, Temlee and Peter Mosman winning 25 races and $700,000 in stakes.

It was a career that could have still been so much more had the demands for his services at stud not been so loud.

“After Christmas expect some fast pups to come through,” said Geall.

“It's looking good for My Redeemer. A very good start.”
