Sennachie's Stunning Gold Bullion Success

SUPERSTAR sprinter Sennachie secured a third group 1 title with an astonishing performance in Friday night's inaugural Gold Bullion Final (520m) at Albion Park.

Going into the $150,000 to-the-winner finale as the race favourite after qualifying with a dazzling 29.39 group 3 Golden Ticket win on Boxing Day, the son of Fernando Bale was just brilliant in Friday night's showpiece event, leaving a talented field of sprinters in his wake. 

"I'm just amazed … I'm shaking, I really wasn't expecting what I have seen tonight," beamed an emotional Steve White straight after the race.

"I go into all my races feeling pretty confident but tonight I had some doubts because I thought gee, we've got all those good dogs drawn underneath us, and if he doesn't come out, it's not going to happen."

Showing his customary trademark acceleration, Sennachie made a one act affair of Friday night's Gold Bullion, defeating Million Dollar Chase hero Good Odds Harada by a remarkable 10 ¼ lengths. Third was Feral Franky another two lengths away.

But it was well and truly Sennachie's night, claiming a third group 1 victory in a sizzling 29.41, a whisker outside the track record 29.38 he recorded winning the Brisbane Cup in July. 

"I just watched the replay and he came out good and once he led … he really gapped them," White added.

"He's a real superstar. He always has been and now that's his third group one and I'm ecstatic. And he's gone good on the clock again."

On a spectacular night of racing, Victoria's group 1 dominance continued in the Gold Cup for the stayers, with True Detective claiming the race in all-the-way fashion for trainer Jeff Britton.

Scraping through to the rich final when finishing fourth in last week's heats, True Detective showed significant improvement with the benefit of a look at the Albion Park circuit, adding a second group 1 to his bulging resume after taking out the Hume Cup in November.

The son of Black Magic Opal stopped the clock in 42.08, staving off a gallant What About It by three-quarters of a length. NSW stayer Just Terms was third, another neck away.
