Straight Track Championship Returns

THE National Straight Track Championships are back on the agenda.

This has come about after the Queensland Government recently announced it would lift border restrictions.

Those restrictions had forced the abandonment of the Championships earlier in the year.

The National final will now be run at Capalaba on December 19.

Racing Queensland has advised that all participating states, Victoria, NSW and South Australia, are committed to the series.

Queensland's qualifying heats will be run on December 5 with the state qualifying final on December 12.

Interstate qualification will take place at Healesville, Richmond, and Murray Bridge with all state finals carrying winning prizemoney of $5000.

Two greyhounds from each state will qualify for the $37,500 Grand Final at Capalaba The winner will take home $25,000.

“While there is currently restricted access to Queensland for some parts of Australia, the Queensland Government has just announced it is aiming to allow fully vaccinated interstate travellers to enter Queensland without the need to quarantine from December 17,” a Racing Qld spokesperson said.

“However, if an interstate trainer is unable to travel to Queensland, the Capalaba Club has advised interstate-based greyhounds are able to be hosted by the Club for the purpose of racing in Final.

“These arrangements can be made by contacting the Club on 07 3390 2772.”

The Club has rescheduled the TAB Anniversary Cup a series that was due to be run at the time of the Straight Track Championships.

That $12,600 series will now be run on November 7 and 14.
