Diva's Dashing Temora Win Has Her Primed For Egg

DENNIS Barnes has called on GRNSW to deliver more TAB meetings to Temora after his star bitch Nangar Diva took out Sunday's Temora Cup Final.

DENNIS Barnes has called on Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) to deliver more TAB meetings to Temora after his star bitch Nangar Diva took out Sunday night's Temora Cup Final (457m) in emphatic fashion.

"I'm buggered if I know why we don't have more TAB racing there, it's as good a track as anything we've got here in NSW or Victoria," Barnes stated.

"It's a safe, wonderfully looked after track. Every dog gets its chance and they only get a handful of TAB meetings a year. I'd race there all the time if there were more TAB meetings and I'm sure plenty of others would as well."

A terrific crowd packed into the Riverina circuit on Sunday night for the club's flagship race meeting.

And it was Bathurst Cup winner Nangar Diva that claimed the $10,000 to-the-winner Temora Cup, powering away during the middle stages to score by 3 ¾ lengths in 25.71.

Second was Onyx Chief at big odds for Mick Clayton while Smart Desire finished third for Terry O'Keefe.

But all the plaudits were with the runaway winner.

"She's going great so she'll get her chance at the Easter Egg now; with some decent draws and in the right races you never know what can happen," Barnes added.

Winner at 15 of her 42 starts, Sunday night's Temora Cup triumph took Nangar Diva's stake earnings to $122,000.

This time last year the daughter of Fabregas was readying for a tilt at the Group 3 New Sensation at Wentworth Park, winning a heat in a sizzling 29.55 before finishing a gallant third to Feral Franky in the final.

"She ran that 29.55 a few days after falling at Wenty," recalled Barnes.

"Would you believe she's actually fallen twice in her career and won the very next start. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not. I was told many years back that if they fall to get them straight back on the horse."

Barnes admits it's exciting times at his Cudal base with Fancy Lola in pup to Feral Franky.

"She's about three weeks in now – we're pretty excited at having his first pups on the way," Barnes beamed.

"I love the dog and I'm not surprised there's been the early interest in him there has."
