SUPERSTAR Big Energy is for sale … not all of him, but 35 per cent.

Gavin Smit, whose partner Kirsty Moore is a syndicate member, said a New Zealand offer of $75,000, and a North Queensland offer of $70,000 had already been received.

Based on the offer of $75,000, the dog is currently valued at almost $215,0000.

Big Energy (Aussie Infrared-Amo Bailar) is the winner of 15 races and $500,000.

He has broken the magical 29 seconds at Sandown three times, is a Group winner, second in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup, Group 1 Adelaide Cup and a finalist in the Group 1 Topgun, Group 1 Temlee, The Phoenix and The Sandgroper.

"The sale has been brought on by two of the members of the syndicate because they want to relinquish their part of the dog," Smit said.

Big Energy, trained by the Kel and Jacquie Greenough combination, is a hot favourite at Sandown on Thursday night in a heat of the Group 1 Harrison Dawson.

"From the moment the advert went up, the phone calls have been phenomenal," Smit said.

"It is a genuine sale.

"We are hoping for $90,000 but the nearest offer to that will get the share in him.

"And, they will be able to head along for a great ride coming up."

Big Energy is already among the hot favourites for the Melbourne Cup and The Phoenix coming up later in the year.

And, his phenomenal speed will assure him of a stud career in the future.
