OUT Of Range, now firmly entrenched as a success at stud in Ireland, has overnight landed the Group 1 All England Cup with one of his offspring.

OUT Of Range, now firmly entrenched as a success at stud in Ireland, has overnight landed the Group 1 All England Cup with one of his offspring.

That dog is Micky's Barrett (Out Of Range-The Other Tessa) which has been the flagbearer for Out Of Range's UK-bred offspring.

Starting 7-4 favourite, he won the G1 All England Cup by leading throughout at Newcastle in 28.55 beating Killieford Defoe and Paisley Pearl.

OUT OF RANGE AT STUD

He has been knocking on the door of a G1 success for some time.

He was second in the G1 Northern Flat and a finalist in the G1 English Derby and G1 Northern Puppy.

Out Of Range's breeder and owner Darren Puleio was “over the moon” with Mickys Barrett's victory.

“That dog is one of the best in England and he deserved a Group 1 win,” said Darren.

“It is justification of the faith we had in Out Of Range to succeed at stud.

The son of Fernando Bale-Nicki Fields was a multiple G1 winner in Australia of the Silver Chief and National Derby.

Puleio stood him at stud before being swayed by the premier breeding establishment, Droopys Stud, in Ireland to send him overseas.

Among his first runners to the track in Australia was Victorian star Hamillson (16 wins, $86,000, 2nd G3 Great Chase).

But, since then his standouts are the sensational Queenslanders, littermates Shipwreck (11 wins, $191,000, G3 VCurry Mdn, State Of Origin Match Race L, 2nd Brett Mem Mdn, finalist G2 Flying Amy Classic, Alb Pk 29.56, WPk 29.32), Oh Oh Range (12 wins, $132,000, 3rd G2 Syd Cup, finalist G1 Qld Cup, The 715, Brett Mem Mdn, near TR Gardens), Pocket Money (13 wins, $92,000, 2nd G1 Hume Cup) and Come On Aussie (10 wins, $58,000).

He is also the sire of classy WA stayer Tsar Bell (15 wins, $124,000, 2nd G1 Nat Distance) and a Queensland litter out of multiple TR breaker Champagne Sally that includes Champagne Jazzy (23 wins, $80,000), Davey Farmer (8 wins, $45,000), Stanton Warrior (7 wins, $36,000), Out Of Champagne (9 wins, $36,000) etc.

Interesting, Aussie Diamond, dam of Shipwreck etc, is a Barcia Bale-Bizarre Barbie litter sister to Champagne Sally.

In the UK, he is also the sire of Callmesteve (2nd G1 Puppy Derby), Droopys Samantha (finalist G1 English Oaks) and Arthur Pumpkin (multiple Group finalist).

Out Of Range won 16 races for $294,000 and is a litter brother to superstar Poke The Bear (G1 Topgun, G2 Trar Cup, G3 Speed Star, G3 Silver Bullet, 2nd G3 Speed Star, 3rd G2 Cran Cup, finalist G1 Melb Cup, G1 Paws, G1 Temlee, $1m Chase) as well as Fully Loaded (26 wins, $77,000), True Talent (17 wins, $74,000).

He is also a half brother to superstar Hooked On Scotch.

Puleio reports Out Of Range has been popular with breeders recently after his great success in Australia.

“I've got 30 straws left in Australia, but have organised to bring a further 20 from Ireland and they should arrive here in January,” he said.

Out Of Range stands at a fee of $3300.

Puleio also reports the response to Hooked On Scotch has also been phenomenal.

“He's mated 150 or more and in the week after Rejuvenate ran 29.47 at The Meadows in a heat of the Silver Chief, we sold 30 straws,” he said.

“And, now that Postman Pat has run a track record and won a Group final in only 10 starts, we have been inundated by semen requests from New Zealand.

“We have got 15 straws going there now.

“We have had to put a limit on him to bitches on season.”

Hooked On Scotch (Barcia Bale-Nicki Fields) is also $3300.
