Coin Model Streaks To Richmond Record

TRAINER Michelle Sultana reckons Coin Model's remarkable Richmond track record time on Sunday night came a week later than it should have.

TRAINER Michelle Sultana reckons Coin Model's Richmond track record on Sunday night came a week late.

Coin Model (Barcia Bale-Champion Model) stormed to a 14 and a half length victory at Richmond on Sunday night in a 5th Grade (520m) in 29.11.

It eclipsed Group 1 star Good Odds Cash's previous mark of 29.24.

“And she was a little slow away, probably costing herself one tenth,” said Michelle.

Coin Model had made her debut for the Sultana kennel the previous week at Richmond winning by 11 and a quarter lengths in 29.30.

“I reckon she could have broken it last week,” said Michelle.

“But 30 minutes before the race, the skies opened up and it poured rain.

“That didn't help but she still ran 29.30.”

Coin Model is raced by Clay Mullens and it was his first track record breaker in some years as an owner.

“Clay was at Richmond last night to see her win,” said Michelle.

“It was very exciting for all of us.

“She is such a darling girl.”

Clay Mullins has been in greyhound racing since 2008. His first ever dog was Clay Model the second mother of Coin Model, but also of Group stars Coco Model and Clay's own Coast Model.

“We have just retired Coast Model,” said Clay.

“She came on season just after winning the Country Classic heat at Dapto.

“She is being mated to Bernardo, but none will be for sale. We usually bring them through and sell once they have been educated.”

Clay sold Coco Model, an older full sister to Coin Model, to Tayt Corless, who took her to third in the G1 National Futurity and a finals berth in the G1 Paws Of Thunder.

Coast Model made six glamour races and was second in the Million Dollar Chase to kennelmate She's A Pearl.
