Exciting Youngsters Strut Their Stuff At Grafton

FATHER and son training team, Reg and Craig Gardoll, landed a winning double at Grafton on Sunday night on a card where slick youngsters came to the fore.

Craig, 50, shares the training duties with his father Reg and they have 12 in training at Pillar Valley just outside Grafton.

Craig has five of those including Thai Warrior (Fernando Bale-Caramel Opal) which ran 20.13 to win a 350m 5th Grade by almost two lengths.

Thai Warrior is a Richard Bligh-owned litter brother to Rogue Trigger which won the Butch Monkley Maiden at Grafton a few months ago.

Reg landed a 450m Maiden with Carramar Drive (Zambora Brockie-Mitcharlie Mia) in 25.86 as the $1.65 favourite earlier in the program.

“Dad has known Richard for some time, but he has been sending us dogs for only the past 18 months,” said Craig.

“This dog went good and there are more wins in store for him.

“He's no superstar, but he will win a few more.”

The Gardolls have four of the litter including Pattaya Pete which also won at Casino last week.

Boom youngster, Black Comanche, ran the quickest of the night when winning the 5th Grade final (450m) in 25.39 by almost four lengths as the $1.35 favourite.

He took his record to five wins from eight starts for owner Peter Hare and trainer Greg Stella.

He came off the eight and powered away in the home straight to score.

Andrew Monaghan's Sky Stone (Orson Allen-Luminescence) continued to lift his profile with a 25.41 win in a 450m 5th Grade as the $1.30 favourite.

He scored by almost five lengths.

It was his sixth win in nine starts and his fourth in succession, but his first stepping up to 450m.
