Fire Legend Ticks All The Boxes For Stud Success

MARK Moroney knew way back in August 2019 he had a smart one when he went to the boxes at Maitland with a youngster he had named Fire Legend.

Mark had been breeding with the damline for six generations.

Every time he swayed and bought into his kennel a new bloodlines, he quickly regretted it. He knew what he had, and reaped the benefits.

That day at Maitland he certainly knew what he had.

FIRE LEGEND AT STUD

Fire Legend (Fernando Bale-Tick Away Fire) won that Maitland debut over 400m as the $1.12 favourite in 22.54 by a length.

Some 120 starts later and with a career win record of 54, Fire Legend has retired to stud with a bank roll of $359,000 and a reputation to satisfy every breeding critic.

Consider some of the “greats” who have retired to stud after a handful of starts and then let breeders down.

That certainly won't be the case with Fire Legend who satisfies every single criteria any broodbitch owner could have.

He's a track record breaker.

He's a Group winner.

He's from a fabulous litter (sister Fire On Ice won 22 and $95,000)

He's by the champion sire … Fernando Bale (sire of the winners of $113 million).

His damline is on fire (the same as MDChase winner Mcinerney).

He raced everywhere and anywhere and WON.

He had soundness few could match.

Fire Legend won the Lismore Cup and near the end of his career landed an emotional victory in the Masters Meteor on Million Dollar Chase night..

He was third in the G1 Paws Of Thunder, G2 Lismore Cup, and another Masters Meteor.

He made the final of the G1 Harrison Dawson, G2 Gosford Cup, G3 Xmas Gift twice, G3 Warragul St Leger, G3 Cranbourne Classic, G3 Ambrosoli, G3 Bob Payne Sprint, G3 Casino Cup and the Bathurst Cup.

Some dogs get a stud career after making just one of those great races.

There is no question … Fire Legend was a “top notcher”. He proved it time and time again.

His litter sister, Fire On Ice, was 3rd in the Bathurst Cup and a finalist in the G1 Easter Egg, G1 Peter Mosman Opal, GH2 Gosford Cup, G2 Richmond Oaks, G2 Maitland Cup, G2 Black Top and The Collerson.

Littermates, Arctic Kingdom, was a finalist in the G2 Black Top..

Their half sister, Sweet Fire All (by Dyna Double One), was a finalist in the G3 Newcastle Cup.

This is a famous, famous direct damline.

Dam, Tick Away Fire, won 15 races and $31,000.

Her mother, Cathella Ice, won the G3 Bankstown City Cup and also produced Fire Elusive (29 wins, $70,000, finalist G2 Maitland Cup).

This is the immediate family of Poison Ivory (G3 Black Top) and Blazing Fire (Richmond TR) and Lucky Fine (Gunnedah TR, finalist G2 Lismore Cup, G2 Gosford Cup).

But, more importantly it is a family that stems back to that wonderful foundation family that includes Dark Debutante. This is the same family as Velocette, Paua To Burn, the entire family of Feral Franky, Good Odds Harada, Solar Pak, Tifi etc, as well as Born Ali and her fabulous family that includes Million Dollar Chase winner Mcinerney.

Therein lies an avenue for broodbitch owners.

Fire Legend is bred on identical lines to Mcinerney (Fernando Bale-Born Ali).

Born Ali's son, Benali, a multiple Group winner, 29.29 winner at Wenty, and multiple G1 finalist, has just one litter at stud and it is responsible for some outstanding results with three of the litter Group winners or finalists.

Benali is by Barcia Bale and therein rests the biggest opportunity for breeders.

Daughters of Barcia Bale are a “winner” going to Fire Legend.

That is even more evident when we look at the pedigree of Barcia Bale's star son Flying Ricciardo. He has Topgun winner Black Enforcer in his damline and so does Fire Legend.

Barcia, Barcia, Barcia … it's a no brainer for Fire Legend.

But, Fire Legend's damsire is Prince Diablo and his damline is that of the famed Genuine Replica  family.

This makes bitches by Zambora Brockie and Ritza Lenny, both from this damline, an absolute must for Fire Legend as well. It is a family proven to do exceptionally well when the family is reinforced within itself.

Lightning Frank and True Detective are the perfect examples of this working.

Fire Legend also has a cross of No Intent (sire of his 3rd mother) and the fact No Intent's mother is a sister to Sobbing Sal the dam of Brett Lee and Big Daddy Cool means bitches with up close crosses of either of those greats can be sent to Fire Legend with confidence.

The Premier Fantasy cross in Fire Legend's damline also brings in a cross of Kinloch Brae to suit such matings. This is the proven Murlens Slippy/Fortress cross.

Special matings could be done via daughters of Allen Deed whose sire Jarvis Bale is a half brother to Fernando Bale's mother Chloe Allen.

The fact Fire Legend is from the same damline as Paua To Burn, Solar Pak, Born Ali, Velocette means all those influential lines can be linked to Fire Legend with confidence.

Born Ali's litter by My Bro Fabio included three G1 class staying daughters. They were saturated with the Dark Debutante influence. This comes also via Golden Currency. He is found in Dyna Double One and of course My Bro Fabio.

Fire Legend raced around 31kgs. He was everything on the track and he deserves his chance at stud. Mark Moroney is seeing he gets just that chance.
