TALENTED juvenile Flash Comet caused a boilover result in Monday night's Tasmanian Breeders Classic Final (515m) at Launceston, scoring brilliantly for trainer Ricky Martin.

Flash Comet, a daughter of Dyna Double One from Martin's Leica Comet, made it two from two with a stunning come-from-behind performance in the finale, following her first up heat victory a week earlier at monster odds.

Open to the best young Tassie-bred greyhounds in the state, the Breeders Classic Final produced a field of immense talent, with Flash Comet coming out on top, sweeping past her rivals along the rails to claim the $5,050 winner's purse in 30.57.

"Experience wise, Flash Comet went into the series with just a few trials under her belt where she showed me enough to warrant a start – but it was a big ask," said Martin following the win.

"There was plenty of talent in the field and to win first-up in the semi-finals, despite copping a few checks was terrific. She's showing very good field sense, I'm really happy with her."

Both Ricky and his wife Sonia have a family driven with racing interests, their three children all hands-on with the dogs, including oldest son Lachlan, who recently obtained his handling licence.

Monday night's victory in the Launceston Breeders Classic was Martin's second success in the feature, following Woosha's top-class performance in 2017, claiming first and second that year with litter-mate Fink Racer.

"When I'm working, Sonia and the kids jump in and do the dogs, having big wins like this gives us all a great thrill. The kids all have their favourite pups on the property," Martin told.

Ricky married into Tassie racing royalty with Sonia's parents, Richard and Jillian Stamford, both icons of the sport, breeders and trainers of three Hobart Thousand winners.

Martin's founding dam Aspen Gold and litter-mate Leica Shiraz was a wedding gift from Richard and Jillian.

Aspen Gold's litter first produced the very smart trio of Cosmic Fire, Mental As Ben and Leica Comet with Leica Comet's first litter – to St. Pierre – producing Woosha and Fink Racer, winners of 28 races.

"This Dyna Double One litter are green and will get better with experience," Ricky acknowledged.

"Honey Soy, who made the final, is lucky to be racing, she broke her leg as a pup. Leica Prayer won at Devonport on Tuesday for Richard and looks to have ability, time will tell how far they will progress."
