Shadows No More On Track For Oaks

SCOTT Bryan will be hoping his patience pays dividends when he lines up Shadows No More in the Tasmanian Oaks Final at Devonport after a stellar heat win on Tuesday.

WYNARD trainer Scott Bryan will be hoping his patience pays dividends when he lines up Shadows No More in next Tuesday's TAB Tasmanian Country Oaks Final at Devonport, following a stellar heat win on Tuesday.

The $3,000 to-the-winner series attracted Tassie's best female sprinters with highly-promising Shadows No More setting the track alight with a sensational 25.20 victory, running away to score by 6 ¼ lengths.

Trainer Scott Bryan was quite amazed in the daughter of Barcia Bale and Miss Hetti's performance, bringing the well-bred galloper along nicely and slowly through the early stages of her career.

"To say it was a great effort and I was surprised is an understatement – she's pretty special," he stated.

"Coming off a big win at Launceston the other week was the start of her showing she was putting it all together."

The black chaser has won four of her seven outings, seemingly improving every time she steps out.

"It has really been a matter of waiting for her to improve with time, I'm not getting too far ahead of myself but she looks to be right on track now, her win when resuming last month at Devonport was very positive," Scott added.

Shadows No More will start a warm favourite in the Country Oaks decider, which includes the likes of heat victor Wynburn Mia (box 7), Jalla Romelda (box 2) and remaining heat winner Breaker Upper (box 3).

Despite the awkward draw of box six, Bryan remains confident that his talented bitch will perform at her best and prove hard to beat.

"I am hoping that she can come out well, push up and use the wide draw to her advantage," said Bryan.

"She has a class edge and has pulled up well, now we just need some luck."

Scott also advised that litter-brother Friday Frothies will resume at Healesville on Sunday, contesting a heat of the Derby for leading trainer Kel Greenough.

The fawn sprinter resumes from a three-month spell following an unplaced effort at Sandown Park in February.

"The dog was injured at his last Sandown effort, he's had some time off and Sunday will be a guide to see how he has come back," he added.

Tasmanian Country Oaks Box Draw: Buckle Up Kiona 1, Jalla Romelda 2, Breaker Upper 3, Landy Danger 4, Chilled Out 5, Shadows No More 6, Wynburn Mia 7, Wynburn Mia 8 / Reserves: Flash Comet & Blackwood Polly.
