Special Cyndie On Verge Of Overdue Big Race Win

SPECIAL Cyndie is on track for a long-awaited feature race victory when she runs in Thursday night's Listed Winged Runner Trophy (520m) at Albion Park.

Despite the fact the Magic Sprite-Cyndie's Special bitch on her way to five years of age, she is racing better than ever with wins at five of her past seven starts.

And all those runs have come after she finally shook off an ear drum problem that forced her off the track for six months.

“We tried and tried to get her right but couldn't,” said owner-trainer Cyndie Elson.

“Finally, we took her to the Laidley Vet Clinic and they found the problem.

“We had to flush her ear out daily and treat it with drops.

“The treatment went on for six to eight weeks, but she has come good.

“She used to shake her head constantly, and we could get only a run or two out of her at a time.

“Now, she is jumping out of her skin all the time.”

She showed just that when coming off the rails to win her Winged Runner Trophy heat last Thursday night in 29.90 scoring by almost six lengths over Shaye and kennelmate Cincinnati Hope.

“We believe it was just some sort of bug that got into her ear and we could not shift it,” said Cyndie.

Special Cyndie has started 56 times for 12 wins and 17 placings earning just $100,000. She turns five in September.

The bitch deserves a feature race win having run seconds in the G1 Brisbane Cup and Silver Dollars.

Cyndie, who has 40 dogs in training at her Churchable property, says fastest heat winner Hara's Pandora is the obvious danger.

“I hope our bitch can draw over near the rails again, even though she won off the six a few starts back,” she said.

Special Cyndie is a granddaughter of the Elson's wonderful producer Regal Silver.

“It is a breed that just keeps going on the racetrack,” said Cyndie.

“Look at Cyndie's Magic. She had 154 starts and won her very first and very last race starts.”

The great Cyndie's Magic is a genetic sister to Special Cyndie, both being by Magic Sprite. Cyndie's Magic is out of Regal Silver while Special Cyndie is from Cyndie's Special a daughter of Regal Silver.
