Star Brothers Headline Broken Hill MDC Heats

ROB Britton is hoping class will pull through when he takes Trooper Tears and Trapper Tears to Broken Hill on Sunday for heats of the MDC.

ROB Britton is hoping class will pull through when he takes star littermates Trooper Tears and Trapper Tears all the way to Broken Hill on Sunday for heats of the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase (525m).

For Britton it will be a 10-hour trip from his Victorian base at Lara.

Rob is the first to admit the brothers, by Goodesy and Freaky Tears, go into the heats “underdone”.

FIELDS AND FORM BROKEN HILL SUNDAY

The pair were taken to Queensland for the Winter Carnival at Albion Park in June and July.

While Trapper Tears has had a run at Sandown on August 13, Trooper Tears has not been seen since June 15.

“We are winging it a bit,” said Rob.

“I'm hoping their class will get them through to the Broken Hill final and that will give them a look at the track and an improvement in their fitness.”

He said he purposely wanted a circle track for the brothers rather than to race at a one-turn track like Temora.

“If they don't happen to go as well as we would want at Broken Hill, there is always Wenty at the end of September for them,” he said.

Trooper Tears has won 11 of 19 and is the winner of the G3 Launching Pad and a finalist in the G1 Harrison-Dawson.

Trapper Tears has won six of 25 and he was runner-up to his brother in the Launching Pad and also a finalist in the Harrison Dawson.

Britton is well aware Broken Hill will not be easy for the bothers.

“There is quite a bit of depth in the races,” he said.

“Some nice locals, a few from Adelaide, and Mark (Delbridge) will be there with Ailee Bale and Landyn Bale and they are both very, very good dogs.”

Ailee Bale is a multiple Group placegetter and finalists, while Landyn Bale was third in the G1 Silver Chief and a finalist in the G1 Australian Cup.
