Unbeaten More Peaches Step Closer To Rocky Cup

MORE Peaches remained unbeaten in five starts but had to pull out all stops to win a heat of the Wildcard (510m) at Rockhampton on Wednesday night.

Mick Boody's very exciting daughter of Sennachie and New Abode had to work hard to get to the front by the home turn and then held off a late charge from Bank Heist and Skill Set to win.

She ran 29.91 as the $1.85 favourite.

More Peaches had been ultra impressive in winning graded races on her way to the Rocky Cup Wildcard heats, winning once by 11 lengths in 29.66 and once by 22 lengths.

Mick trains the bitch for Michelle Luhres and More Peaches traces to Top Talker, a bitch from the Hallinan Spanish Dance damline that Mick raced with success some years ago.

Mick's nephew, Ken Boody, continued his fabulous run of success when Dixie Gambles won the other Wildcard heat in a flying 29.64 as the $1.30 favourite.

“Jaycin Campbell rang me out of the blue about sending a dog or two north to race in Rocky,” said Ken.

“Dixie was with Mark Gatt and broke in very well but she was not coming out in the couple of races she had.

“We did a lot of box work with her when she got her and while she still prefers going in on the front line, she is much better now.”

Campbell has also sent classy Grim Madara north for the Rocky Cup series.

“I was hoping to have him in the Wildcard but he just wasn't right when he arrived but will be ready for the Cup heats,” said Ken.

Grim Madera has been second in a Young Star Consolation at Wentworth Park and a finalist in both the G3 Bob Payne Sprint and the Country Classic.
