Victorian Trainers Dominate Prizemoney List

THE top 100 Australasian prizemoney earning trainers shared in a tad over $9 million in stakes from January 1 to March 12 this year, with Andrea Dailly seeing in 2019 in terrific fashion, atop of the list with $560,000 in prizemoney.

Not surprisingly, a large portion of the trainers listed are located in Victoria, 29 of the top 100 in fact, while a further 16 reside in Queensland and Western Australia apiece.

19 New Zealand trainers find their way into the top 100, while 11 are from New South Wales.

Rounding out the list is five Tasmanian trainers, with the remaining four from South Australia.

Bulli A Perfect Science For Wilcox?

MARK Wilcox has found the perfect race at Bulli this Saturday night for the return to racing of his Goulburn Cup winner Scientific Man.

Stepping out for the first time since his outstanding cup victory at Goulburn in early December, the son of Cosmic Rumble and Winning Shiraz has slotted into a six-dog free for all over the 400m, worth – wait for it – $3,525 to-the-winner.

A Ladbrokes Monthly Medal event, hence the terrific stake money, sadly just six nominations were received for the race, with Scientific Man set to go around all-the-rage, given his exceptional personal best time at the circuit of 22.21.

Yet to miss a place in four runs at the track and distance, the star one-turner finished second on debut in his maiden at the course in May 2018, beaten 4 ¾ lengths by a pretty handy conveyance as things would now have it…Pindari Express.

Tulio's ‘Shining' Light

VINCE Tullio has been riding the crest of a winning wave recently, mainly through the deeds of his two-time Group 1 winning galloper Deliver.

But the Pearcedale breeder/owner/trainer added another terrific feat to his great stretch of form at The Meadows on Wednesday afternoon, guiding the well-bred Shining to her debut victory over the grueling 725 metres – a first up distance win almost unheard of in this day and age.

A daughter of Barcia Bale and Sticka Size, Shining is 26 months of age, from a litter that's showing plenty of promise, winning 17 of their 62 starts thus far.

Curt Lee Creating A Big Impression

ANOTHER chaser that went around at The Meadows on Wednesday creating a big impression is the Glenn Rounds-trained Curt Lee.

Making a one-act affair of the Party On The Deck No City Wins Final (525m), Curt Lee, a son of Fernando Bale and Rockin' Josie, was far too classy for his opposition, extending his record to six wins from the eight starts with an impressive 30.03 victory.

On the strength of his powerhouse performance on Wednesday, the lightly raced Curt Lee is going to furnish into a more than handy city performer for Rounds in the weeks and months ahead.

Lagogiane's Trials and Tribulations

THE always progressive media department at Sandown released some interesting trial information after Anthony Azzopardi and Peter Lagogiane put some of their smart youngsters through their paces box-to-box at the Springvale circuit on Wednesday morning.

Winner of last year's Launching Pad with Beast Unleashed, Lagogiane was making the long trip back to his NSW base on Wednesday afternoon, more than happy with the trials of his smart duo Double Back and Demolition Duke, the former right on track for a Launching Pad tilt in three weeks' time.

Well into the return trip home however, Lagogiane broke down near Gundagai, a location that not long after ‘going amiss' was described in far less eloquent terms, given its rather desolate nature.

Following a hefty tow ride home back to Sydney late Wednesday night, getting home at 2am, it's anticipated the dealership that only just recently serviced the vehicle in question may well be in for some spirited discussions come Thursday.
