Zipping Truvy On Track For Bathurst Record

GUN middle distance performer Zipping Truvy will set sail for Victoria on Thursday but not before contesting Monday's Ladbrokes Red Dog Stake (618m) at Bathurst.

"She's absolutely flying," declared trainer Rob Tyler ahead of Monday's assignment.

"I gave her a post to post at Bathurst last week and she went 25.30 which is basically unheard of. It equates to what they'd run from the 450 boxes which is the record. It's been a slow grind getting her back to the track but I couldn't be happier with her going into Monday.

"If the track is in good nick and she gets the right run I reckon she gives the record a shake on Monday. All her trials point towards that; she's going that good."

The daughter of Zulu Zeus steps out in Monday's $5,000 to-the-winner event for the first time since January, after making her middle distance debut a successful one at Dapto, powering home to score over the 600 metres in a sizzling 34.19.

"Touch wood she's over the injuries that stopped us heading down to Melbourne for the Super Stayers and she gets a good run at things now," Tyler said.

"It's been frustrating that her campaigns have been so injury hit but there's no point putting them around if they're not right and I'm really confident with the extra time she's completely everything."

Quoted a raging hot $1.35 favourite for Monday's Bathurst event, Tyler told the Recorder that the fashionably bred chaser will transfer to Melbourne on Thursday to chase the lucrative middle distance city money as she works towards next month's Sandown Cup.

"It doesn't make any sense to keep her here the way things are at the moment," Tyler said.

"It's hard enough at the best of times let alone now.

"Marty (Hallinan) and I had a good talk and it's the right thing to do. He's working through where she's going now and hopefully she leaves a winner.

"When things get back to normal in NSW I hope she comes back, she's part of the family here."

While Zipping Truvy is the main attraction, Tyler ventures to Bathurst on Monday with five runners on the card, including 2018 Group 3 Christmas Gift winner Modus Operandi and last year's Richmond Steeline Maiden winner Zipping Brady.

Zipping Brady, returning to the track for the first time since November, is a short priced favourite for race five on the card.

"(Zipping) Brady trialled 22.55 at Richmond over the 400 last week so he's cherry ripe for his return," Tyler said.

"Old Modus will run his usual honest race as well. He always does."
