Johnston's Gardens Starring Role

LITTERMATES Fab Mulwee and Monica Sapphire delivered Toronto trainer Peter Johnston a winning double on Friday afternoon, landing back-to-back races at Ladbrokes Gardens over the 400m.

The May 2016 daughters of Fabregas and Star Sapphire continued the bright start to their careers with respective victories, Fab Mulwee claiming her maiden with a two-length win in 22.93, while Monica Sapphire made it four wins from the nine appearances with a 2 ¼ length 22.89 success.

Star Sapphire's first litter to Fabregas is showing plenty of promise, hardly surprising given the former smart racers credentials.

Winner at 10 of her 35 starts on the track, Star Sapphire, prepared by Dave Richardson, posted a mind-boggling 30.25 at Richmond, not to mention 29.65 at Ladbrokes Gar-dens and a smart 30.02 at headquarters.
