Perfect Start For Cyndie's Magic As A Mum

THE darling of Qld greyhound racing, Cyndie's Magic, saw her first starter a winner in a 395m Maiden at Albion Park on Wednesday afternoon.

THE darling of Queensland greyhound racing in recent times, Cyndie's Magic, saw her first starter a winner in a 395m Maiden at Albion Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Limited Edition (Fernando Bale-Cyndie's Magic) is raced and trained by Travis Elson whose parents Bill and Cyndie took Cyndie's Magic to $400,000 in stakes and a host of feature race wins and Group success.

“Mum and dad gave me a pup from the litter,” said Travis. “I'm in this industry for a while to come and was looking for a future broodbitch as well.

“I had five bitches to pick from. There was nothing between them.”

Travis said Limited Edition was very inexperienced but had already shown great potential.

“Her first couple of trials over 395 metres she went 23.01 and then 22.77,” he said. “And she has improved on that today.”

Limited Edition, coming out of box three, scored by six and a quarter lengths in 22.66 to down Mr Blaster and Farmor Carlton.

“I will run her in next week's Maiden final, then give her a couple of post to post trials at Albion Park before running her in a 520 metre Novice,” said Travis. “She is very promising.”

Elson said his parents had retained five dogs and four bitches from the 10-pup litter and while the bitches had all broken in with great reports, the dogs had come on in leaps and bounds since.

“A couple of the bitches mum and dad have are on season so I decided to get my bitch into a race before she did the same,” said Travis.

“This is going to be a very exciting litter.”

The win was the second in a row for Elson who landed the opening race, another heat of the 395m Maiden, with Magic Miss (Dyna Double One-Hope's Magic). She ran 22.76.

“She is a bit older than Limited Edition, and is out of a litter sister to Cyndie's Magic,” said Travis.
